The other day I printed out a lace pattern from knitty and lo and behold I couldn’t see even read the lace chart. So I was thinking about how webpages could have more printable charts. The best way I could think to do that is to use flash, but I know lots of people don’t have it or know how to use it. And thus I came up with this.
What if there was a website that you could go to create a knitting chart by dragging and dropping symbols on to the grid. Then you would export a little text file that would actually contain your pattern. And then you’d embed a small swf file in your pattern in your webpage. In that format it would print as clear as normal text and you’d also perhaps be able to choose to enlarge the chart as well.
Do you think if I made something like that people would use it? It will also give my flash skills a little challenge.

I think it sounds like a neat idea! I’d probably use it.
I’d use it, and donate if I really liked it!
I’m looking for something just like it!
Love the idea!! I’d use it for sure – and like one of the above people I’d donate for it also!! Or pay to use it! Good luck on it!
